Firm History

Vasiliadis Pappas is one of only a few law firms in Pennsylvania to be certified by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court in the specialty of Elder Law. That means our expertise in Elder Care Law is second to none. In fact, we advise other attorneys on this highly specialized area of law.

Elder Law is a relatively new specialty of law, devoted to the legal issues surrounding Senior Citizens. This includes estate planning, employment discrimination, the receipt of social security, VA benefits and other government benefits, planning for long-term healthcare in nursing homes, planning for incapacity or mental incompetence, powers of attorney, living wills, and other issues.

Estate Planning is a key part of Elder Law and is critical to protect you or your loved one’s assets from being wiped out by taxes and long-term nursing home care. Vasiliadis & Associates draws on years of experience to create innovative solutions to protect your savings.

Stan’s Story

Many years ago, Aunt Irene came to live with my family. She was elderly and not in good health. It was a harsh adjustment for this sweet, but fiercely independent widow who could no longer live alone in her home. We were happy to have her, she was only with us for a few days, because shortly after her arrival, she fell and was moved to a nursing home. Although Aunt Irene’s hip healed, she never made it out of the nursing home.

Month by month I watched Aunt Irene’s life savings shrink and eventually evaporate, as the nursing home chipped away at her hard earned money. Seven years later she was dead and broke.

This was heartbreaking to watch. As an experienced attorney, it seemed to me that somehow, somewhere, there must be a way for people like Aunt Irene to be protected under the law, so that they could get the care they needed, without forfeiting their entire life savings.

That’s when I learned about elder law. It was a new legal practice at that time, but I knew first-hand how important it was. I felt a strong calling to this work, so over time I switched my general practice to elder law and estate planning. The firm officially began specializing in 1990.

My son George, originally joined me as a Legal Assistant for a short time after college and ten years later as an Associate Attorney in 2011. Dionysios Pappas joined me as a Law Clerk in 2004 and started as an Associate Attorney in 2005.

On January 1, 2018, George and Dionysios officially took over the firm and it is now called Vasiliadis Pappas Associates LLC. George and Dennis share my passion for helping senior citizens and their families. Together, we work to provide our clients with the best possible retirement, estate and long-term care planning services.
